It wasn’t exactly Robert Langdon deciphering a cryptic code in some exotic location in Italy. Nor was it anything like making sense of an utterly confusing ‘C++’ or Java code during your computer exams.

In the underworld, and if reports on ABP Majha and Times of India are to be believed, then the punters and the bookies liked to keep things simple — drawing anything like the Vitruvian Man on the cricket pitch was not exactly how bookies operated the spot-fixing racket.

In the underworld, it’s all about code words which are… not really code words, but nicknames. For example, Sachin Tendulkar is referred as ‘Batku’ (shorty) and MS Dhoni as ‘helicopter’. Wasn’t hard to figure those ones out, right?

Here’s a list of codes and who they were for:

- A Rs 1 crore bet : Mirchi

- Chris Gayle : Raavan

- Lasith Malinga : Monkey

- Yuvraj Singh : Model

- Virender Sehwag : Chasma (glasses)

- Harbhajan Singh : Pagadi (turban)

- Suresh Raina – SherS

- S sreesanth – Rotadu (cry baby)

- Ajit Chandila : Mowgli

- Ankeet Chavan : Kavala (crow)

- Virat Kohli : Shining

- R. Ashwin : Phiraki

- Vindoo Dara Singh : Jack

- Gurunath Meiyappan : Guruji

- Asad Rauf : Dada
