President Pranab Mukherjee on Tuesday urged people to make yoga an integral part of life as it promotes better health and brings harmony. Mr. Mukherjee was leading about 1,000 people at a yoga event at Rashtrapati Bhavan to mark the second International Yoga Day.
The President said yoga provided mental and physical strength to people. “It will enable them to live a healthy life. It will create overall harmony between body and mind. It will enhance mental and physical well-being.”
In a brief address on the occasion of International Yoga Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged people to embrace yoga for better physical and mental health.
Mr. Modi led the second International Yoga Day celebrations as he pitched for treating diseases like diabetes through the spiritual discipline. Over 30,000 people performed yoga asanas during the event held at the Capitol Complex in Chandigarh amid tight security.
