Most visitors to Darjeeling combine the trip with a visit to Sikkim. There are plenty of shared jeeps available to take you to Gangtok at Rs 125 per head. If you don't mind being wedged tightly between people, this is a less expensive way to get to Gangtok.

We decided to stay in Gangtok for two nights. After making the necessary hotel bookings we were on our way. The journey from Darjeeling to Gangtok can never be boring with breathtaking views and the river Teesta for company!
